Go Big or Go Home (and recharge that smaller battery) Aug 17, 2010

Recently I upgraded all my cordless tools from older, heavier batteries to newer, lighter LI-Ion batteries. My new Hitachi drills all came with the smaller batteries, and I noticed that under heavy loads (I was putting in a deck and a huge deer-fenced garden) that the smaller batteries would quit fairly quickly. I have one of these larger batteries, and the difference is amazing! These batteries seem to go on and on and on and I am now upgrading to buy this two-pack so I can spend more time on the projects and less time on the charging. These batteries don't weigh much more than the smaller ones, but the trade off on duration is worth any extra weight!

By roddiebo I converted my Hitachi tools to Lithium. Well worth the investment. You have to get used to the cycle meaning when they are going dead your tools just quit they don't just get weaker. Great investment so far
Hitachi Batteries Jan 10, 2012
By Lane After checking several sites, this site provided the exact match for the batteries I needed at a reasonable price. When they arrived (within a few days) they looked brand new and have worked well with no problems.

By Stephen Vivona Excellent batteries. Lithium ion is the only way to go. Better reliability, less weight, no memory problems. Recommended!

8 months light use and both batteries dead Mar 19, 2011
By Gerald Lam

In June 2010, I purchased a 6 tool package that came with these same two Hitachi EMB1830 18V 3.0Ah Li-ion HXP batteries. I am a very light user. I stored away the tools for the past 6 weeks with both batteries fully charged. Now today, March 18, 2011, both batteries are dead and will not charge. Each battery shows "broken" on the charger indicator. I charged a borrowed battery on my charger and am using that battery. I've tried multiple times since to charge the original two batteries without success.
If you really want to risk disappointment and waste your money as well as having worthless tools without dependable Hitachi HXP EBM1830 batteries, go ahead and buy them.
AMENDED REVIEW - NOVEMBER 11, 2011:
Over the past year, I have purchased 4 Hitachi EBM1830 batteries. Only one has remained useful. Three have each quickly broken. Two were replaced with new batteries and those refused to charge within a month or so. I had purchased a complete set of Hitachi wireless tools, so I need the batteries or am stuck with a bunch of useless tools. So, I purchased another new Hitachi EBM1830 from Amazon receiving it on September 19, 2011. I am a light user. I charged it and used it for about 10 minutes. A week later, I used it for about 5 minutes and then charged it again. I store the battery in a covered garage separate from the charger. The first week of October, I used it for about 10 minutes and stored it away in the garage. On October 15, it would not charge and the charger indicates it as broken. Hitachi battery sales seem fraudulent. Something is just not right with this product manufacturing, distribution and sales.
