Not worth the money Apr 02, 2009
By Settler I've had pretty good luck with Hitachi tools up until this one. The overall quality seems closer to a homeowner grade than the price would indicate. Number one problem is the chuck, which is continually either slipping the bit or jamming and having to be released with pliers. I think I should be able drill a 3/16 hole in hardwood without the bit slipping in the chuck! Number two is this drill is weak, with gloves on I can stop the drill by gripping the chuck, which I often do when trying to get the stupid chuck to grab the bit. Number three is the battery release which is uncannily stubborn. These are all problems I would have expected if I had paid less. I wish I had paid more and got the Makita.

Good power but breaks Jul 10, 2009
By Steven Bennett Case broke on first use and now the chuck has stripped. Yeah all are covered by the warranty but the repair parts take a long time to come in, guess that is why they give such a long warranty period!!!

Hitachi DS18DFLPC Aug 17, 2010
By SS The Hitachi DS18DFLPC is a work horse performing well in every application. The kit comes with two batteries so you can work all day and into the evening with ease. It comes with a handy carrying case. I am satisfied with this tool and reccomend it to anyone with a big project in mind. I used mine to help build a master bedroom in the middle of the Mendacino forest.Hitachi DS18DVF3 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit
Great Drill Jun 11, 2009
By P. Milwood Light, powerful, and a long lasting battery. This is my third Hitachi drill motor and the oldest is just as good as the newest.
Great Multi-purpose Drill May 31, 2009
By Dog Lover This drill is a lot better than the many different manufacturer's drills (Makita, Porter-Cable, Skil, Black and Decker, etc.) I have owned. The battery and battery charger are reliable whereas they were the first things that failed on the other drills. It is a good weight - sturdy but not overly heavy. It is ergonomically shaped and my husband and I have found it easy to use. In fact, we now have two - his and hers.
