Great drill, but will it have enough power for bigger jobs Mar 08, 2010 I recently started doing some beginners woodworking and I was looking for a new drill to replace a super cheap Black & Decker that just wasn't getting the job done. I wanted a one size fits all drill, but I didn't want to pay too much and I didn't want it to be too heavy. Lithium-ion would definitely be a bonus as well. I saw the great reviews for this drill and I read that a 12V drill is good enough for general woodworking.
After using the drill, I'm very happy with the purchase. It's very light and it's great having 2 batteries that charge very quickly. It also has way more clutch settings than my old Black & Decker, which is useful. My only concern is that this is a 12V PEAK drill. It sounds like you get 12V when the battery is fully charged, but it quickly drops down to 10.8V. I hope that's powerful enough when I use it for bigger jobs. It seems powerful enough, but it slowed a little when I used it with a Kreg pocket hole jig. The pocket hole jig has a large drill bit and the drill did work, but I wouldn't say it was "easy power". I'll update the review if I have any problems going forward.
Great Tool Mar 01, 2010 This is my third or fourth drill, and I can honestly say after using this one that the other drills were all crap. This drill is light, yet has plenty of torque and speed. It comes with two batteries, and the charge on a single battery is very sufficient. It also hold a charge between uses, which none of my old drills could seem to do. Don't expect to be drilling endlessly into deep oak or masonry, but for cabinetry and such things, this drill is a dream. It is nice to have something that will put 50 screws into something and also doesn't weigh 10 lbs.
great tools for light duty jobs Feb 12, 2010 I own the complete micro 10.8 volt line they are great tools for light duty jobs that they were design for. The small size and ergonomics makes it great for light duty work in electrical, HVAC, Cabinetry trades and are grate for home use as well. But they should not be compared against the power and torque that your normal 12v, 14v and 18v cordless power tools will provide.
Great Light Drill for Around the House Dec 28, 2009 I've owned this drill for a couple months now and it has worked out great. A little light on power which isn't an issue for me because I have a larger drill for the big jobs but for those looking for this to be the only drill they own you may want something more powerful.
For example I was drilling a 1 inch hole with a new spade bit through 1 inch pine and it made it through but after stopping several times from the bit biting too much and the drill not having enough power.
Pros:
Quality construction
Light Weight
Spare battery
Cons:
Limited use for lighter jobs only (not so much a con but know what you are buying)
Great tool! Dec 19, 2009 This drill/driver is my new favorite. It fits a woman's hand perfectly. It is small enough to get into tight places and still has a good amount of power. The little "headlight" is a good feature for finding a screw head in a dark spot or just looking for something in the bottom of the tool bag. I am getting another one in case this model is discontinued. Love it.
