Miter scale and thumb-actuated miter stops facilitate simple adjustments at the most common angles. View larger. | Powerful Motor Provides Smooth, Accurate Cuts The C10FSB Sliding Dual Compound Miter Saw features a powerful 12-amp motor that generates a no-load speed of up to 3,800 RPM for easily making crosscuts and miters in even the toughest workpieces. The electronic speed control ensures consistent RPM throughout the cut, so you get smooth, precise, controlled cuts each and every time.Additionally, the C10FSB utilizes a Poly-V-Belt transmission rather than a traditional gear transmission. This soft start technology allows the saw to operate smoothly and quietly and reduces recoils during startup. Compound Feature for Precise Miters and Bevels Hitachi designed the C10FSB for versatile, easy use. The thumb-actuated positive miter stops allow for simple miter adjustments at the most common angles: 15.0, 22.5, 31.6, and 45.0 degrees to the right or left. The tool also features a 57-degree miter angle to the right and a 45-degree miter angle to the left for maximum flexibility. Additionally, a white-on-black miter scale provides superior visibility, allowing you to easily adjust the angle of the cutting blade for creating miters in crown molding and other trim pieces. And with a bevel range of 45 degrees to the left and right, you can quickly and easily flip the saw blade while leaving your material in place. To save you even more time, bevel stops to the right and left are conveniently located at zero and 45 degrees. The 10-inch TCT saw blade (included) makes easy work of trim and other woodwork, and the linear ball-bearing slide system and adjustable pivot fence allow for accurate cutting of large workpieces over 12 inches deep. Chock-Full of User-Friendly Features The C10FSB contains plenty of features to help you make the perfect cut the first time. To start, a splinter guard behind the fence increases safety and reduces tear-out for clean, finished cuts. For further refinement, a large table provides a stable guide and sturdy support, a built-in clamping system holds your workpiece in place, and an electric brake feature quickly halts the blade to prevent unintended cuts. The C10FSB also includes a dust collector that minimizes accumulation of dust and particles in your both your workspace and the saw's interior components, keeping your jobsite clean and prolonging the life of the tool. An added bonus, easily accessible carbon brushes will help your saw perform for the long term. Durably built, this tool is backed with an industry-leading five-year warranty. It is compatible with Hitachi's UU610 Universal Work Station. Hitachi 10" is tops in the miter game. Jun 05, 2010 I am a lifelong carpenter. I have used EVERY saw brand on the jobsite. For me there is a major complaint about each one except this hitachi: Dewalt handle is awkward and also feels cheaply built- I also dislike the bevel lock and the table size seems a bit off the blade guard is HUGE and clunky, Makita is heavy and has awkward miter/bevel settings/buttons and the blade guard is obstructive, Metabo is overpriced and overengineered which equals poorly built, Ridgid is oversized and too heavy, ryobi is cheap and falls apart (miter handle on mine), the 12" hitachi is a hulk and too heavy and is also cheaply cast and built, the bosch 10" has a cheaply cast table and is overpriced for what you get.
But then there are the 10" c10fsb and the c10fsh (c10fsb with laser) Hitachi sliders. These saws now have a great miter scale, the controls are easy to get used to and work well, the miter action is smooth and the bevel lock locks where you set it. The swiveling back fence is a great feature. These 10" saws are quiet and smooth with the belt drive motor. Feels like a very precise machine. Cuts are tight and cleaner with the belt drive as the extra vibration of the motor doesn't make its way to the blade. The saw table is nicely cast and is substantial, the slide stands up to lots of abuse as does the case. The blade guard moves out of the way when making cuts. Dust collection works great on this one. Of course the black safety button is prone to pop out after the saw gets a bit old (six years of constant use) but is remedied with a new 7 dollar button or a new o ring you decide. Ive had two of these and just bought the second and glad I did. You'll love this saw, its the best on the market.

Close, but not close enough Mar 19, 2010 Product was delivered FED Ex with no damage - good choice Amazon, given hitachi's so-so packaging. Ships with 40 tooth blade which is of very limited use. I'm a professional woodworker and bought this tool to "upgrade" from my little old C8FB2, the first slide miter saw. No slide miter can replace a radial arm or table saw for accuracy, but I was hoping to get a little closer than I could get with the 8 inch saw. At first, I was impressed. Most adjustables were right on out of the box. Slide was tight and smooth with acceptable deflection. Power was marginal but OK with a top quality blade that you'd have to purchase extra. Detents are positive and tight, better than the earlier saws. Cuts in 8/4 sapele bogged down with a 12 amp motor but a light trim pass cleaned them up nicely. But here's the rub: any sliding saw carraige has to be aligned perfectly with the blade axis, or the heel or toe of the blade will drag through the cut. The blade will crab it's way along the cut line and you'll never get a clean cut. All cuts will be compromised to some extent. It will show up mostly in cuts through wide boards, but also in slightly out of plane mitres and crosscuts. You can check this on a piece of wide stock by pushing the blade carraige all the way against the stop on the fence side and carefully plunging the blade into the stock to leave a full kerf, then raising the blade, sliding out to the outside edge of the piece and making a sliding cut in to your first cut. The cuts should line up exactly.. If they don't, it may be acceptable in light stock trim work, but not fine woodworking or furniture work. This geometry should be adjustable and checked in the factory. It's not. My old C8 with a new 60 tooth Freud Diablo cuts better. And the C10FSB is made in Japan, not Malaysia or China. Some of my best tooling is from Japan, from mortising cutters to premium saw blades. Maybe it's just my saw, but I'm disappointed. Hitachi is not pursuing the professional market here. I would gladly pay another $200 for the same saw with a little more attention to the basic details, a couple more amps in the motor and a properly aligned blade arbor/slide mechanism. Note that on the big green plastic belt cover is the bold molded in text "COMPOUND MITRE SLIDE SAW." I don't need to be told what I bought. Just "HITACHI" on my old tool said enough. It doesn't mean as much to me now.
What a great saw! Feb 20, 2010 I got this saw for my birthday and I was very happy! I put an Irwin laser on it, made the adjustments, and it works great. Very accurate, very tight. I even built a portable stand with folding out feeds for it because I think it deserved it. I like it better than the Makita I had previously. ***** 5 Stars!
THE BEST SLIDER BUY IT Jan 24, 2010 Have used about a dozen CMS, SCMS saws and this is my favorite of all. Keep it simple stupid, and that is what Hitachi has done with this one. The guard actually works on this saw no pinning needed. The open table design is the only way to go for the trim carpenter. The hitachi 8 1/4 saw is also the best, it however doesnt dual bevel.

great saw Aug 01, 2009 Hi everyone,
This saw was a replacement to my dewalt 12 double bevel saw.I had considered getting the dewalt 12in slider however I simply could not justify the cost. After reading the reviews concerning the Hitachi, seeing it at my local Lowes store (which by the way was 169.00 more expensive) and speaking to my father who is a professional carpenter ,and owns the smaller version of this saw, I decided this one was for me.
It arrived in 2 weeks which surprised me.The free shipping offered by amazon was GREAT. It came well packaged and nothing was missing ,bent or broken. It took little less than 1/2 hr to pull it from the box and made ready for action. One thing I didn't take into consideration when buying this was the additional space required.Compared to the Dewalt it needed a min of 6 more inches of bench space so keep this in mind.
The slide is smooth and pulls easy. I can make a 12 3/8 cut with no problems. The soft start is nice as the saw doesn't jerk when you pull the trigger. I haven't changed the blade yet so I can't comment there however I don't see any place to store the tools on the saw.
Things I don't like. The handle grip is not the most comfortable which sounds silly however when you are doing a lot of mitering your hand feels it. Also I hate the safety switch that needs to be depressed however a small strip of gorilla tape fixed that issue.
I also wish the aux fence had come with the saw rather than sold as a option.
So over all this is a excellent saw for the money and I'm delighted I have bought it.
regards,
Ray
