| | Description | Hitachi's revolutionary line of diamond grit drill bits are ideal for the professional and/or serious DIYer who drills into hard materials like tile, marble, porcelain, granite, slate and glass. They significantly outperform the standard carbide glass and tile bits on the market today, both in speed of drilling and the number of holes that can be drilled per bit. These diamond grit drill bits are easy to use, only water is needed and they can be used with any cordless drill for flexibility and convenience. | |

Did what it's supposed to do and still going Mar 19, 2010

I put down Porcelain tile in my kitchen and needed to make 6 holes in it for screws and nails for transition strips and holding blocks for closet door hinges. I tried 5 different bit's that said they were for use on tile at the local hardware stores however none of them got more than an 1/8 of an inch in before they stopped making progress. This one made quick work using a cup of water and an 18 volt craftsman drill. I would dip the bit in water as the other reviewer mentioned to keep the work surface wet and I would say I went through a hardness level 4 (out of 5) tile without drama and within a minute or so. This saves me from using a chisel and probably screwing up the whole tile (cracking). After the 6 holes I looked at the top of the bit and it still looks new.

These bits cut WAY more than 35 holes... Jul 15, 2009

I use these bits regularly to drill glass ranging from 1/8 to 3/4 inches and averaging 3/8ths inch thick. I can drill more than 250 holes with a single bit when run in a cold water bath on a drill press. They rarely clog, are self cleaning, create an accurate hole and start well on irregular surfaces. They are manufactured from heavy duty materials. They are stout. I have tried about five other brands of various designs. This Hitachi design is simply the best.
Simple Holes Aug 16, 2011
By Scott Reynolds The bit was very effective. Perfect holes, minimal heat. Having never drilled holes in glass before, with only 2 trials on scrap, my project worked out perfect. I have over 20 holes with this bit and it is in great shape.
