Must have for Hardi-plank fiber cement siding Dec 16, 2006

Title says it all. Great blades. Couldn't make clean cut outs around windows without them.
I didn't realize that they were packed three to a box...so I ordered way too many. Otherwise, all good.

Maybe not quite THAT good? Sep 21, 2010
By xcstrider Okay ... maybe I'm just a novice with hardiplank and even with carpentry in general. Even so, I can't agree with everything stated in some reviews. They sound as if one can side their entire home using nothing but these jigsaw blades. I bought these because of those reviews but was disappointed as soon as I made my first cut. Having since used Hitachi's circular saw hardiblade, too, I agree that the amount of dust generated by the jigsaw is minimal compared to the circular. (This may be a somewhat mute issue, however, since the same safety gear and procedures are required for both. Just be outside and upwind!) I'll, also, take other reviewers' word for it that these outlast other, similar jigsaw blades hands down. Certainly mine showed no signs of wear at all following the one small cut I made with it. The blade felt firm and strong throughout the entire cut. At the same time, I can by no means compare my experience to "a hot knife through butter." I found the blade's action to be tediously slow and surprisingly tiring, even for just a 12" cut. I had previously read a review that recommended these jigsaw blades be used only for small cuts; i.e., cutting out notches, holes, curves, etc. and reserve larger cross cuts and, certainly, rip cuts for the circular saw blade. With that review and my own experience in mind, I went right back on line and ordered Hitachi's circular saw hardiblade. I assure you I am really glad I did! My advice is to buy it (Hitachi 18008 HardiBlade 7-1/4-Inch 4-Tooth PCD Fiber Cement Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch and Diamond Knockout Arbor) for use as the primary cutting blade and these jigsaw blades only for smaller or curved cuts, if necessary. For this purpose only, I rate these 5 stars.

Well worth the price Sep 10, 2008
By txtom I tried three different jigsaw blades trying to cut out crawlspace vent holes. The hardipanel absolutely ate them. These Hitachi blades zip right through the stuff.

A Must Have For Fiber Cement Siding Installation!!! Dec 09, 2010
By nvaintenuff I bought these blades as a "I might need them" situation. We are installing hardi board siding and trim as part of a total remodel. I have several windows that required trimming out prior to the installation of the siding and we chose the hardi 3/4 trim to compliment the lap siding. Our first attempt to cut this trim to size using a circular saw outfitted with a specially designed "fiber cement blade" failed. The circular saw cut the material but was slow, dusty, and there was a kick back with the saw at the end of the cut that caused the trim to chip off. This trim DOES NOT cut like wood. So, I got out the jig saw, installed one of the blades I had ordered "just in case" and to my surprise, the blade cut the trim like butter. No dust, very fast, very precise as I used an angle square, and no kick back. The only issue so far has been that they will dull quicker using them to cut the cememnt board than a wood blade dulls cutting just wood. They come three to a pack and I am on my second one after trimming out 3 windows. I have 10 more windows to go. I also used these blades to cut the lap siding to fit around the windows and to fine tune the lap siding when it was a tad to long. You get plenty of cuts per blade but if you have a large amount of trim to cut, buy more than 1 pack. You won't be disappointed.

Great for plaster walls also Jan 21, 2010

I use these extensively in renovations of older homes with plaster walls. They make a nice clean cut through plaster and lathe, and last a long time. A typical blade will only cut about 18" before the teeth are gone! I also cut cement board for under tile with these. I usually break the blades before the teeth wear out on these.
